Surgical Innovations and Research Core - Surgical Outcomes Research
The Surgical Innovation and Research Core (SIRC) is dedicated to using clinical and translational research to improve care for our surgical patients. Our research spans the spectrum from clinical trials and big data studies to quality improvement initiatives and qualitative work. In all these efforts, we are aiming to discover which preoperative, operative and postoperative factors and interventions are most important for improving the outcomes of our patients. We are also passionate about understanding, and eliminating, the sources of disparities in surgical outcomes among high-risk groups of patients. Investigators within the department use both quantitative and qualitative methods to conduct these studies. Our team collaborates broadly with multidisciplinary experts to understand the impact of surgery on our patients and have a track record of successful mentorship for our trainees.
