HOW TO FIND RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMGs

Research opportunities for IMGs (International/Foreign medical graduates) in the United States:

Research is one of the gates through which IMGs cross into residency programs especially those with low scores or no US LORs yet. Researchers, inaddition to providing LORs, they can through their wide connections help you get a residency position. In addition to research which you will find in the links below, you need to do observerships in institutions which contain ACGME certified programs and apply to the IMG friendly residency programs the lists of which are present in the links on the left side of this page.

Before we go to the sites and tools to search for research opportunities, there are 2 important books to have when applying to any research spot. Reading these books will give the researches a better idea about what you know in the field and how interested you are:

1- Research Design: Qualitative, Quantitative, and Mixed Methods Approaches

2- Designing Clinical Research.

This is a frequently updated list of places and websites through which the people we are coaching each year get into research positions all over the nation. USMLE scores or ECFMG certificates are not usually required however many of these institutions may not be sponsoring visas.
